Albert Serur joined American Income Life Insurance Company (AIL) immediately following his graduation from West Virginia University in 2011. Like many people graduating college, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. A family friend who worked at AIL’s Home Office, suggested he take a look at the career track the Company offered. “He told me to meet Simon Arias and Tommy Vena, to see if this career path would be a good fit,” Albert says, “and I immediately fell in love with the opportunity.”
Albert hit the ground running, eager to start helping others protect themselves and their families. “The products offered by AIL help families focus on the grieving process, and spend time with their loved ones instead of struggling because they can’t pay their bills,” Albert says.
The majority of the families AIL aims to protect are union workers. The goal is to protect and serve those that protect and serve us. “We educate a client base that sometimes seems to be neglected or overlooked in our great country, and that’s an amazing experience,” says Albert.
As he grew with the Company, so did his desire to mentor others. He began to realize the business becomes less about what you can do and more about what you can teach others to do. “Teaching people how to run a successful business and watching them grow mentally, spiritually, and professionally as my leaders did for me, is by far the most rewarding part of this career,” says Albert.
Albert helps new and prospective Agents focus on the important things, so they too can be successful. He believes, in order to make a professional income you have to act like a professional. “‘Attitude’ plus ‘effort’ equals ‘results’, not the other way around,” Albert advises. He tells people considering joining AIL, “You need to have an internal drive that stems from who you want to help in your life rather than what you want to buy – income is a side effect of helping people.”
Basketball played a major role in Jake Yagjian’s life while in college, and his coach indirectly led him to American Income Life Insurance Company (AIL). “I had just graduated with a degree in economics from Wheaton College and was unsure of what I wanted to do,” recalls Jake. “The AIL State General Agent in Massachusetts approached my college basketball coach with an AIL opportunity for graduating seniors. The team camaraderie, competitive atmosphere, and family feel attracted me, in addition to the opportunity for growth, uncapped income potential, and AIL culture. I loved the idea of being in business for myself, but not by myself. At that point, I knew I wanted to be a team leader. But I realize now I want to lead the Agency and help others achieve their goals,” he adds.
“Helping others turn their goals into reality has been the most rewarding aspect of joining this great Company. Our focus on developing people personally as well as professionally sets us apart. Many businesses focus on developing certain skills, but AIL understands if we develop the person, those needed skills develop a lot faster,” states Jake.
“My greatest accomplishments with AIL have been the people I have helped develop to become upper- level leaders. As a result, I was the top Regional General Agent in my category for the entire Company internationally in 2018. Even though it’s a personal honor, I consider it a team award, because none of it would be possible without the hard work and dedication of everyone on my team,” Jake stresses.
“If I could start over with AIL, I would have pushed harder to get where I am faster. Yet, I believe everything happens for a reason, and the path I took led me to where I am today,” he states. “If you’re interested in following a path with American Income Life, it’s worth it! As with everything, you’ll have ups and downs. After all, if it was easy, everyone would do it. But if you stick with it, it will definitely be worth it in the end,” he emphasizes.
“AIL products offer clients comfort on the worst day of their lives, after losing a family member,” says Jake. “The last thing they need to stress about is finances, because American Income Life will be there to help take care of them. My Agency has so much to offer this region. Since we’ve opened new offices in Massachusetts and New York, we’re experiencing such high levels of growth we’re constantly looking to hire for different roles in sales, leadership, and HR,” he continues.
Community involvement is crucial to Jake and his team. “We support ‘Minding Your Mind,’ a mental health program for young adults, students, parents, teachers, administrators, and the community. Every month my Agency members select a charity or organization to which we donate. Whether we give back with time or money is irrelevant. We believe because we work so closely in the community, it’s important to give back as much as we can in whatever way we can,” he states.
Being from New England, Jake is an avid Boston sports fan. “In my free time, I enjoy working out, spending time with my special lady, family, and friends, attending Boston sporting events, and traveling,” he adds.
