It’s a long way from the Dominican Republic to Canada, but Josh Chalom, Business Owner in Ontario, made the transition with ease. Josh owned and operated swimwear boutiques in the Dominican Republic before joining Globe Life American Income Division (AIL). His cousin was a successful Business Owner for Globe Life American Income Division in Los Angeles and convinced Josh to make the change to AIL.

Since joining American Income, Josh successfully set up and ran offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Las Vegas prior to coming to Ontario, where he became the second person licensed with AIL in eastern Canada.

Josh is excited about the impact Globe Life American Income Division products can have. “The ability to help people put a roof over their heads, put food on the table, and provide an education for their children has tremendous social impact,” says Josh, “especially when the main breadwinner is taken out of the picture.”

When did he realize a Globe Life American Income Division career was right for him? “When my father died at 55,” recalls Josh, “I realized how devastating and unexpected life and death could be. His own policy was a small plan he took from me when I first started with AIL. I then realized how important it was to make people aware of what we all eventually have to face.”

What’s his advice to someone thinking about a career at AIL? “Take it seriously,” says Josh, “work harder than you ever have, and follow the path set forth by the Company. There really is a pot of gold at the end. Globe Life American Income Division has allowed me to achieve all my dreams and has forced me to dream bigger, all the while helping people. I only wish I had gone into management sooner to spread the word of what a great opportunity this is to more people.”

As well as being a successful SGA for American Income Life, Josh is a talented Rubiks cube artist. “I am currently in the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records,” says Josh, “for creating the largest Rubiks Cube Mosaic, ‘The Last Supper’ using 4,050 cubes and will be in the 2012 book as well for breaking the record with ‘The Hand of God’ piece using 12,090 cubes. “Prior to getting licensed and starting my career with Globe Life American Income Division (AIL) in 2010, I completed high school at York Mills Collegiate Institute in Toronto.  I planned to go to university to purse a business degree and have my life figured out by the time I graduated.  Instead, I took a year off, working at Starbucks and clubs in the city’s entertainment district,” says Jordan Chalom.

What brought Jordan to AIL?  “It was the limitless upward mobility and the freedom to make my own schedule at AIL that changed my direction in life.  Becoming a State General Agent (SGA) was what I worked toward over the past several years, so when a fellow SGA approached me to partner with him in Ontario, I jumped at the opportunity,” states Jordan.  “As a second generation SGA and the fourth in my family, I know first-hand the time, effort, and sacrifice it takes to build an Organization.  I’m so proud of successfully overhauling the recruiting culture in my Organization, resulting in months of record hire growth,” he emphasizes.

“What’s most rewarding about Globe Life American Income Division is my unlimited earning potential and watching my renewals grow year after year.  That growth represents all the people I’ve positively impacted.  AIL can’t replace a loved one, but our products make sure the family is taken care of … the mortgage is paid and the refrigerator is full,” Jordan states proudly.

What’s Jordan’s advice if you’re considering joining the AIL family?  “Don’t try to reinvent the wheel,” he stresses.  “There are many successful people in Globe Life American Income Division who have made mistakes along the way to success so new Agents and leaders don’t have to.  Learn from them.  In addition, focus on culture.  Having great Agents gets you production to a certain extent.  But the Organization culture is what facilitates or impedes growth,” he emphasizes.

Photography is an important part of Jordan’s life. “Street photography has always been a passion of mine, and I’m an avid photographer, both film and digital.  I also collect cameras and have more than 40 in my collection so far,” says Jordan.  “Animal welfare is close to my heart too.  I donate to the Toronto Humane Society and ‘Save Our Scruff’ every year.  Plus, I have a dog named Hank, who I often bring to the office and is pretty infamous among the Directors and VPs who visit.  I’m probably the only SGA to admit this, but I’m not generally a sports fan.  However, I did proudly jump on the bandwagon when the Toronto Raptors won the NBA championship,” he adds.
